Jordan Cohen began playing drums and taking drum lessons at the age of 10. By the age of 13, he regularly played in bands around Albany, NY mostly at local underage venues, fairs, events and and even a gig at legendary CBGB’s in New York. During his teenage years he played in original and cover bands that spanned multiple genres at local bars and clubs . He began writing his own music around this time as well. At the age of 18, he got accepted into the Berklee College Of Music and was awarded a coveted Buddy Rich scholarship in the process. At Berklee he refined his practice majoring in performance, and he studied Jazz styles, and drum technique in more detail. He left Berklee after a year, to pursue a professional career and played in various bands in Boston and in a brief stint in NYC. At 23 he joined Powerman 5000, a local up and coming rock band in Boston. In 1996, the band got signed to Dreamworks/SKG records. The band relocated to Los Angeles and released their first major label record, “Mega! Kung-Fu Radio”. This led to an extended period of touring across the continent playing the Ozzfest, and tours with Limpbizkit, Kiss, Primus, Marilyn Manson, amongst others. Jordan left Powerman in 1998, and moved to NYC playing with various groups when he landed a gig in 1999 with the Blue Man Group show in Las Vegas. Over a twenty year plus stint with Blue Man he played with various bands in Las Vegas and formed his own recording focused project, Sons Of Jupiter, with which he’s written and recorded two records to date with his partner, Thaddeus Corea.
